James City County Health Department in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Health provides the following services and programs: Emergency Medical Services, Environmental Health, Family Health Services, Health Services, EMS Training Programs, and Youth Program. Other medical services provided by the James City County Health Department include Immunization, Tuberculosis Control, STD/AIDS control, Teen Pregnancy Prevention, WIC Program, and Dental Health.

The Division of Immunizations offers Vaccines for Children (VFC) provides most vaccines at no charge to enrolled public and private providers for eligible children. Private providers and local health departments identify and provide services to hepatitis B surface antigen positive pregnant women and their infants, their household contacts, and sexual partners. The Adolescent health Program focuses on health promotion and disease prevention, disease treatment, and surveillance. The Teen Pregnancy Prevention program provides Sexual Health Programs to reduce teenage pregnancies. The Family planning plays a critical role in reducing unintended pregnancy.

The Virginia Diabetes Prevention and Control Project (DPCP) is a state-level public health resource providing leadership for diabetes prevention and control initiatives and working to eliminate diabetes health disparities. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funds the Virginia Cardiovascular Health Project (CVH) to implement heart attack and stroke prevention and control initiatives through systems change, environmental and policy support. The Dental services program provides dental services to half of Virginia's localities to pre-school and school age children who meet eligibility requirements. The Genetics Program is part of a statewide system reduces unnecessary morbidity from potential or existing genetic conditions by assuring access to the appropriate education, testing, counseling and treatment to residents.
