The mission of Heritage Humane Society, Inc.is to provide for
the care of injured, ill, stray, or unwanted companion animals of the city of
Williamsburg, James City County, and the First District of York County, Virginia,
so that a standard of care reflecting the values of the community can be achieved.
This humane society has pets available for adoptions. A 24-hour hold Application
for Adoption must be filled out. Heritage Humane Society requires that newly
adopted pets be taken to a veterinarian for a health examination within 7 days
of adoption. Microchips are required and included with all adoptions. HHS policy
stipulates that all adopted animals be spayed or neutered before they are allowed
to go to their new home. Assistance for
low cost spay/neuter assistance is provided for qualifying families.
